Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. The primary trumpet method book I use to teach lessons is "Arban's Complete Conservatory Method for Trumpet" by Jean-Baptiste Arban. Regardless of a student's ability level this book has hundreds of pages of exercises to develop trumpeter skills. The most important thing I develop with beginning students is tone. The teachings of Arban, Clarke, Colin, Arnold Jacobs, and Carmine Caruso are my influences, and I use their ideas and exercises in lessons.I emphasize the fundamentals of trumpet playing: tone production, articulation, flexability, and finger dexterity. I first started teaching and helping run brass sectionals at some local schools in 2004, but did not start teaching regualarly until I completed my degree in 2011. I find that young musicians make the most progress when playing for and with other people. I aim to make lessons fun and engaging and put a strong emphasis on playing duets. I also encourage students to enter competitions and play recitals. I have found competitions and recitals motivate students both before and after the event. Read More
