I'm an enthusiastic musician that believes in working hard while still having fun. I graduated from Carroll University in 2018 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Liberal Arts, and have performed as principal flute for an international music project between Carroll University, Marquette, UW Milwaukee, and multiple Italian conservatories all throughout Italy, Germany, and Austria. With beginning and other school age students, I work with any lesson book or material given to them from their director or teacher, regardless of the method book. From my learning, teaching experience and work in music retail I am familiar with most of the method books in use, especially Standards of Excellence, Rubank, Essential Elements and others. My instruction experience dates back to my time in high school, as I started instructing private lessons part time 11 years ago, and have been regularly teaching in my home studio throughout that time. Creating a consistent practice schedule is one of the ideas I like to emphasize for younger students, as it will be more likely to benefit student development, and help them grow a passion for the instrument. For beginning students that are k-12 I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements to align with the public school music curriculum. For those 18+ or hoping to learn an instrument outside of school purposes I highly encourage students to pick out their own repertoire to learn however I'm more than happy to help with the process of choosing music. For those with a base line understanding of music we will still read from various methods books and play some standard repertoire but it will not be the focus of lessons. Read More

After experiencing performance injuries like tendonitis at a young age, I specifically gear my teaching style toward healthy playing practices that are conducive to playing with ease. During my undergraduate degree, I have completed an introductory course and multiple workshops on the Alexander Technique. I have geared my playing to this mindful practice, and I believe that it is beneficial for any musician of any level to experience it. My students will be asked to notice what they feel as they play, and if it is uncomfortable tension, then we will redirect to make whatever feels awkward, more natural. Read More
