For beginning students who are children, I typically start the first day with allowing them to perform what they have learned prior so that I can see where their strengths and weaknesses are. Afterwards, I will work on their strengths so that they feel confident to tackle on their weaknesses. Once the student has progressed in fundamentals, I will advance them to solo repertoires appropriate for their performances. I look at every student as a unique individual, with the potential to achieve his or her particular goal. I think it is important to find the method or approach that works best for each individual. I have been teaching music in various capacities for approximately the last four years. My private studio has included both in-person and online lessons. As the music director of Smooth Progressions A Cappella, I worked with college students of various skill levels to produce an EP and an album. We sang everything from Irish folk ballads to Justin Timberlake. I started teaching private lessons in high school. I taught guitar, bass, piano, voice, and songwriting lessons at Biryukov Academy of Arts and Music for 5 years for both kids and adult beginners. I have performed, written and music directed a children's theatre tour where I taught children to sing, act, and perform in front of large crowds. Hi there this is Ian. I began taking clarinet lessons at the age of 12 years old. From then on I branched out to other instruments including guitar and piano. I have been the lead vocalist of Rock bands including Graffiti NJ and S.T.O.R (The Sun Thugs of Rebellion).
