I create play-along videos, so that kids have something specific to practice at home. I use "Read this First" as a note reading book. Students play along with me and also by themselves at lessons. Eventually kids can gather together and play as a group if they wish to do so. I have nearly a decade of private teaching experience as well as teaching in group and in school orchestra settings. While in Austin, Joseph ran a successful teaching studio of over 30 violin and viola students that regularly placed in TMEA All-Region Orchestras, UIL State Solo Ensemble Contest, and were members of the Austin Youth Orchestra. For beginning students who are children, I like to use the Suzuki violin method. While they beginning to show progress Ill begin to include F. Mazas Melodios and Progessive Studies and the Wohlfahrt Studies combined with appropriate solo repertoire. For adults, I prefer to find out what their interest is focus on and I guide my instruction acording to this.
