For many of my newbie beginners who are young in age I will approach them with two preferred methods for instrumental music. Those are Essential Elements and Accent on Achievement. These methods are great because they get the student playing right away, but still retain a slow and steady tragectory as to not overwhelm the student either. For Beginning Students, I suggest using either Hal Leonard's Essential Elements or Rubank's series of books starting with the Elementary Method book in addition to a warm-up that is essential to what they need to work on. Once my students have a grasp of the fundamentals, I suggest a step up in method books to both Rubank Intermediate series and Bordogni Etudes. In addition, I will assign solo repertoire that we will work on for either recitals or competitions. Read More

An appetite and aspiration to learn is what molded me into the musician I am today, and I consider it to be the most valuable asset to any student. My teaching experience dates back to four years ago when I had completed my AA degree in Music and I had decided to volunteer teaching music to both my old secondary school (high school) and the Barbados Pathfinder Band recruit program which I was a Band member of.
