I play classical music every day and I like for my students to study a classical piece because it helps them develop technique rapidly. As a keyboard player, I emphasize the study of scales and arpeggios and playing them with both hands. The first step is defining clear goals that address the desires and needs of the student while allowing the student to grow at their own pace. These goals are used to address lesson content as well as planning student practice sessions in between lessons.
