Fir beginning students, I usually begin using what ever book the student is using in Band class. I also like the Rubank Method of books for fundamentals, duets, and some solo work. After the student has a grasp of scales and tonguing, I will pick suitable repertoire. Also, if a contest is coming up or an audition for a regional band, I will work on this materials. These performances include recital halls, banquet halls, school auditoriums, night clubs, bars, restaurants, weddings, parties, church ceremonies, community theater and parades.
