Teaching Philosophy I believe that a students passion for learning music begins with the instructors passion for teaching music. Even after 20 years, I find that I enjoy working with students as much today as my first year teaching. What fuels this passion, for me, is to constantly expand what I teach, and improve the way in which I teach it. I've been teaching for the past five years. My favorite part of being a teacher is seeing my students take the initiative in their musical studies and discovering break throughs in our lessons. Many of my students have participated in several honor bands and competitions, and I make it a point to steer them in that direction. I begain teaching as a band assistant in college. I would lead sectionals and work with students who where struggiling one on one. As I gained experiance my role and responsibly grew and I began to run rehearsals and plan for concerts. One aspect of lessons that I emphasise is musicality. From teaching students of most age levels, I have learned several approaches to teaching jazz music and improvisation.
