Since every student learns in a different fashion, it is necessary to use both traditional methodology and Suzuki methodology in the studio. I started teaching private piano in 1991 and have trained over 200 private students since starting. I have taught K-12 music in public schools since 1991. My students' ages have ranged from 3 to 66+. As I am fully retired from the public school music classroom, I have expanded my times available for private students - piano, keyboard, ukulele, guitar, and all brass instruments are welcome. Especially on piano and keyboards, I have found that combining classical music and learning from books with learning music that students enjoy listening to on their own can revolutionize how students learn and enjoy their instrument. I also work with my students to learn their instrument and the necessary music theory concepts by writing their own melodies and small songs, so that students can feel creative while learning another method of processing the world around them. I was Artistic Director and Violin Teacher with Lighthouse Suzuki Strings Inc. in Florida for 11 years where I directed the string orchestra, coached string ensembles and had 50 private students. 6 years ago I moved to Colorado where I began my online studio.
