Ibegan teaching private lessons from 2004 and tried to consistently teaching students in my home studio. I was a counselor and private lesson instructor at the OSU Flute Workshop from 2011 to 2013. Playing duets with student, learn very exciting extended techniques, and various repertoire are features I emphasize for students to help them enjoy and motivate to learn. (Piano adventures, Alfred, Faber and Faber, ect) For piano we always do Theory , Technic, and go through a song book which will take you gradually through the levels and correspond the Theory and technique lessons. In middle school, I began performing and teaching music during the summers at Vacation Bible School for children ages 3-10. Throughout high school, as a member of a variety of bands, I performed at a wide array of venues around New England. During this time, I ventured into song writing and musical arrangement. I also spent some time giving private trombone, bass, and guitar lessons in high school. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements for violin students and piano adventures for piano students. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For students who are already in an instrumental program through school, I will start with whatever method book they are using at school, and branch off from there. Depending on the instrument, I will bring in another method book specific to that instrument book and we will also use some sort of etude book.
