Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Our music teachers understand that every student has different needs and abilities and therefore the lessons will be planned with that knowledge in mind.

I've performed in numerous musicals throughout K12 eventually leading to my time at UGA where I received my Bachelors in Music. I have the most Experience using the following Method Books: Standard of Excellence, Essential Elements, Accent on Achievement, Instrumental Methods and many other methods. Initially (and throughout) I place a high value on performance fundamentals. I start with a focus on proper posture and breathing. Once this can be executed I breakdown the nomenclature of the student's instrument, how to put it together and break it down. Next the focus becomes proper grip for mallets/sticks and embouchure placement for winds. Read More

When I meet a new student, I ask them about their music tastes, as well as their perceived level of skill. This allows me to have a clearer picture as to which route to take with teaching. For students who are just starting their journey into music, I tend to bring material and resources from my own experiences and material. For beginner kids, I typically use the Liela Fletcher Lesson Book series. I find that my students usually progress faster with this series. For teens and adult beginners, I use the James Bastien "Older Beginner Series or John Thompson series to get them started. After basic fundamentals have been I established then I direct the lessons in the area of the student's interest. Sometimes I am able to do this while the student is learning the fundamentals.
