I have been playing the piano since I was five years old. I began playing for my church worship service at the age of twelve, and accompanied the drama department, band and orchestra programs and private recitals through high school and beyond. I studied preparatory college curriculum in the Oklahoma City Performing Arts Academy, which prepped me for my bachelors at Oklahoma City University. I first find out a little bit about my students musical likes and taste, or, with younger students, find somethingfun that interests them, just to find some common ground. I also find out a students long term goals. I look at each student individually to assess their potential and goals before setting a book or particular study plan. Once the student has begun basic technique exercises, I assign book levels and vocal repertoire that fits their interests as well as matching what I feel the student needs to be working on. I spend a lot of time performing on various stages, playing guitar, banjo, and keyboards primarily. I love sharing what I know with others, and I especially love seeing someone I've taught succeed in their chosen path. I've taught young children how to collaborate musically, I've taught people to play the banjo, guitar, piano, and I've taught music classes to bigger groups. I have a year of teaching Chorus in the Guilford public school system. I also have musical theater experience. I have also been singing in church my whole life and have held an interim minister of music position at East Belmont Church of God.
