Post Baccalaureate Educator looking to provide guidance to musicians on their great musical journey. My degree is in Violin and Piano Performance. I studied with professors that graduated from Eastman, Manhattan, Michigan, Boston, and Curtis among many others. Ive always been interested in discovering the many ways one could teach an instrument. After learning piano from the age of 5 I started violin around 10 years old. I come from a family of non-musicians so my situation was quite special in the way I pursued music without the influence of family or friends. Read More
Instruments: Piano, Guitar, Bass Guitar, Organ, Synthesizer, Accordion, Music
Amazing! However, bring them to a Blues Jam and they're lost. Without written music they don't know what to play. My students will never have this problem. They will be good music readers who understand improvisation and how to use their ears. I also feel great personal satisfaction and accomplishment, with my students progress and successes. It is wonderful to take a student from "Where are all the C's on the piano?", to playing Mozart, Beethoven, John Legend, or Pharrell Williams, within 6 months! Read More

My teaching style is just like most I think. I don't rush with the students. Always trying to go slow and make sure the students understands everything. I've gotten pretty good at figuring out when the students get what I'm trying to teach. If I feel like I'm going to fast I'll stop think about what I'm doing and slow down. It's easy to talk to fast and rush as a teacher because I've taught so many students. Read More
Instruments: Piano, Voice, Trumpet, Euphonium, Music, Keyboard
With beginning students, I tend to focus on the fundamentals for the instrument, and music. An adequate grasp of the fundamentals, along with consistent practice and rehearsal times, lead to a student expediting their abilities. At this point, I will start distributing solo repertoire/literature and duets. I always encourage my students to perform for one another and to their friends and family. Not every student learns the same way. Read More
Instruments: Voice, Saxophone, Flute, Piccolo, Bassoon, Music
Since lessons are tailored to the individual student's goals, it's going to be a little more laid back. Success is measured differently for each student. It is, however indescribably rewarding when the student suddenly "get's it." When the things you've been teaching all come together and they're no longer playing note, but they're making music. I'll admit, it's because of this that beginners are really my favorites to work with. Read More
