Hi! My name is Megan, and I have a Master of Music degree in Voice Performance and Choral Conducting from Andrews University. Before that, I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Voice Performance from Southern Adventist University. Performing has been a joy of mine, and I've had the opportunity to perform with some amazing groups, such as Andrews University Singers and Southern Adventist University's I Cantori. I do major scales and fingering immediately clarify the students' knowledge of the keyboard. I take this knowledge and apply it to note reading: I introduce reading by distance as well as recognition. I can usually have student reading simple music in the first two lessons. I started playing back in 1994. Playing with local musicians and bands. I quickly jumped to perform on TV and finally, I enrolled in College. My emphasis is on performance and motivating the student. I set goals for performance at the early stages of study whether it's for family and friends or at an open mic or in church. Without performance as a goal it's hard to motivate the student to practice. I analyze each student's individual learning style whether it's visual or auditory and find ways to help them learn faster and securely.
