In the style of my teachers, I like to start the lesson by reviewing the concepts discussed in the last lesson. After reviewing we will build on those topics with new ideas and skills. Finally we will set goals for the student to accomplish during the next week. The goals will be reasonable to accomplish in that amount of time. Read More

Keeping my students positive and inspired is my goal when teaching, and nothing is more inspiring than hitting landmarks and seeing your own progress! I encourage my students to learn at their own pace, and remind them that learning a skill is not a one size fits all scenario. I encourage my students to be as experimental, open minded and curious as possible. Setting realistic goals is always how I end every lesson, as you should always have a goal you're working to achieve. Read More

I think that every student is unique. I tend to create a custom program for every student, based on his/her special talents. By special talents I mean student's psychological particularities and tendencies. Student can have a very good sense of rhyhm, for example, so I am going to give this student some pieces of Spanish composers, like Albenis or some rhythmical jazz pieces. Student might be very lyrical and romantic and emotional, so I am going to give him/her some Chopin or Schuber or Schumann pieces. Read More

I am a versatile and engaging musician with 14 years of experience performing and composing in a wide variety of genres: Jazz, rock, hip-hop, folk, classical, electronic, electroacoustic, avant garde, ambient, soul, punk, etc. This is a resource that has proven to be invaluable in teaching students with a wide range of interest to help them develop both in technique and in finding their own voice on their instrument. In the past 7 years I have completed a Bachelor's Degree at McGill University in Montreal (Performance Jazz Drums), have performed at international festivals in Toronto and Montreal, have toured with various projects, scored two short films, and composed and produced two albums of my original music. *Note: I teach drums at all skill levels - piano and guitar from novice - intermediate. Instruments: Piano, Guitar, Voice

That way the student has an understanding of the building blocks first. From there we can progress to timing, chords, strumming patterns, and so on, depending on the ability of the student. For voice, my teaching is based off of a combination of many methods I've learned over the years, from Speech Level Singing, to Classical/Bel Canto, to Ken Tamplin/Phil Moufarrege style teaching.
