I hold a Bachelors of Arts in Flute Perfromance at Texas Southern University located in Houston,TX. I've had the opportunity to perform with many university ensembles on campus (many of which I've had the honor of serving as principal player). My lessons tend to focus on the aspects of the music that I find stimulating, with hopes that each student will eventually love what they are doing. I feel that it is important to note that not all students grow the same way, and very few grow at the same rate. I work with Rubank or any method books provided by their band instructor. There will be supplemental materials, especially for more advanced students, that are instrument specific such as etudes and technical exercises. We will continue focusing on band literature, contemporary, classical, or solo literature depending on the goals of the students and their interests. While there are some general methods, it is best to meet the student where their needs are and tailor the specific methods to those needs. Read More

I began teaching as a college student, conducting workshops at high schools. I then began to teach on an individual basis, and instructed students of all ages and abilities. Through these experiences, I found joy in teaching and love having fun with my students. I have been teaching young people and adults how to play musical instruments for over 20 years. Currently I conduct after school music programs at the University of Memphis Campus School, CTK Lutheran School in Memphis, and Incarnation Catholic School in Collierville.
