Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. However, I always like to start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements, and I like to take exercises from my own collection that I've accumulated over the years, and determine which exercise is needed based on which aspects of playing a student might need working on. I also like to introduce pieces and exercises that appeal across all different genres in an effort to teach a holistic approach to music and the reach that the flute/piccolo has. Specifically, I like to use the Hal Leonard Rubank Method for Flute and work through those books, as this is the way I learned. I have given lessons to students who are just starting out and high school students preparing for auditions and/other performances.
