Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Briefly: The flute teaching methods and books I use vary and are based on the needs of a student. As a student advances, I also include music theory and basic ear training. A little more in-depth: As many students have begun their flute studies in their elementary school band, I look over the books and music they have been playing from in school, listen to their sound and technique, watch their posture, and make a decision on teaching books to expand and enhance their current level. I like to have my students progress to a point where they feel comfortable picking a song of their choice, transcribing it as accurately as possible, and playing it. For advanced students: there is no set structure for advanced students, as their requests and sets of strengths and weaknesses are so individually specific that I have to create a specific lesson plan for each student. However, one theme that I love to introduce advanced musicians to in terms of music theory are the psycho-acoustics and emotional manipulation of specific chord progressions, modes, cadences, and modal interchange.
