My methods of teaching vary depending on the age and skill level of the student. If the student is very young, I start them on simple exercises Designed by me. As they progress, I begin to implement certain books that Ive used in my career. There are three books I use religiously, Stick Control Ted Reeds syncopation book and N.A.R.D snare drum studies. When I assisted in the academy, and jammed with the kids who were learning drums. I looked at their faces and nothing brought more joy to my heart that knowing that those kids found passion in music; the same way I did when I was younger. For my methods of teaching, I work on rudiments and work on basics for percussion. Even if the student has played percussion for years, I still want them to understand the fundementals for the instrument. As soon as the student is finished with rudiments, I want them to look at the different etudes in a percussion book that I will work off of for each meeting.
