I'm a positive and encouraging teacher who loves finding inspiration in music and sharing that with people. I am a drummer; the roots of my beats come from the people who taught me in Ghana in 2013. Since then, I have been playing independently as well as with other musicians all over the world. I also play the ukulele and sing. This summer, I graduated with my MA in Expressive Arts Therapy in Switzerland. I currently live and work in Jensen Beach, Florida. I am available to tutor in drumming and percussion around the Treasure Coast. I own several hand drums as well as other percussion instruments.
I have been working with children and adults since I was in college. I have worked one on one with individuals of all ages and experience levels. I worked with children ages 3-8 in a classroom as a Preschool and Afterschool Teacher at Follow the Child Montessori School. I have also worked with adults with varying mental or emotional challenges as a Therapist and Mental Health Technician through organisations such as Universal Mental Health and Coral Shores Behavioral Health. I love encouraging people through creative expression and finding ways to open up in fun and new experiences.
The purpose of teaching is to share knowledge. Every person has his or her own experiences that shape their knowledge. As a teacher, I offer my experiences to guide my students to be in harmony with other people and to peacefully be a part of a community. I picture an ideal world that is unified and supportive. In every interaction I hope to bring positivity and peace. I teach through my passion of music and the arts and hope to inspire in my students an openness toward life and a love of creative expression.
I meet people where they are. I know that every person comes with their own experiences and challenges. I aim to cater my teaching methods to the individual's needs. I will build lesson plans based on the student's interests and needs. We can explore the instruments together in my collaborative, creative and fun teaching style. I like to see people smiling and know that if you enjoy what you are doing, then that is the most important aspect of learning and becoming inspired to expand creative knowledge more.
