The learning process should be, for the most part, fun and based upon a strong relationship between the teacher and the student. Curriculum and lesson plans are based on student's abilities and aspirations with appropriate balance between theoretical and practical work. The lesson material is always carefully chosen, and when necessary, adapted to specific learning needs. With a proper approach, everyone can learn to play music. Whether you want to pursue a music career, or just play for fun and enjoyment I can help you attain your goals. Read More

My methods used for piano students are the Randall and Nancy Faber teaching books; they are among the very best teaching materials due to their ease of comprehension, their logical sequence of concepts taught, and also their practical exercises and songs for the student. My methods used for Band instruments (trumpet, clarinet, flute, drums, and trombone), are the Standard of Excellence books, as they are also among the very best in regards to explaining musical concepts, presenting new songs, and logical progression. I aim to tailor my lesson plans to each students unique goals. The methods I use differ based on each persons aspirations and learning habits. I believe that the cello can be a beneficial addition to anyones life, whether it is being played for recreation/therapy, to explore and enjoy great music, or to challenge oneself and build discipline through rigorous practice. I like to use the first few Suzuki and Schroeder books for complete beginners to introduce basic bowing and intonation concepts while building confidence with the cello. Read More

When students take one lesson each week, I believe it is important to develop continuity between those weekly lessons. Each student is asked to keep a basic "spiral" notebook with the weekly music being working on. During each lesson, I record the important things discussed, as well as the weekly assignment. This routine supports parent participation during at home practice sessions, as well as provides a reminder for students of key ideas learned during the previous lesson. Read More

My time learning under her has allowed me to sculpt my own thoughts on the subject of teaching. I have learned through my various teachers that without support and understanding, it is difficult to accomplish anything. This is why I instill a supportive, open, and fun environment for my students. Read More
