Scientifically speaking, our brains are trained to be "goal achievers". Thus, I always ask my students what three goals we need to work on before my lesson begins. For this purpose, we can not only create efficiency in learning but also feel great after achieving the goals. Also, I care about mindfulness. Every person has one's own difficulties and challenges. My experience in both music education and special education gives me the insight into adapting lesson material to the individual student, as no two students are alike in their learning styles! I work with the needs and goals of the individual student, and incorporates a wide variety of teaching styles into my lessons. For my younger piano students, I use the Bastien piano series, and I like to use the Alfred Adult Beginner series for my beginning students that are late middle school and older. Read More

For all students, I begin with classical fundamentals such as body alignment, breath support, and resonance and moving to topics including diction, vocal health, interpretation, and stage presence. I will work with the student to find repertoire that will best fit their voice, help achieve their musical goals, and be aligned with what they enjoy musically. Learning to sing or play the piano is both fun and hard work. It requires patience, positive thinking, and a commitment to making practicing a priority.
