I believe that proficiency on any instrument begins with understanding how the different parts of the instrument work together to create an optimal sound. All of my students will have an understanding of the system in place that allows them to chase the sound they hear in their heads. For guitar, I usually start with basic music theory. Scales, learning the notes of the guitar, easy chords. Then I'll just start teaching you whatever you'd like to learn! Most of the time I teach songs. To me, it's the fastest and most fun way to learn guitar. For singing, first I will assess where you are at currently. Then I'll teach the basics of proper breathing technique, vocal exercises and warm ups, and then after you've gained more strength in your voice, we will start practicing with songs you enjoy and that fit your vocal style.
