I have been teaching music in public schools for 7 years, and private lessons for 11. I currently teach high school choir and piano at Scranton High School during the week, and have taught all ages for strings for numerous years as well. My main instrument in undergrad was violin, with a minor in piano, and I have had extensive training and teaching experience on voice, viola, cello, and bass. Strong breath control also allows for the soft palette to stay raised during singing, which is of prime importance. The mouth should be as open as the vowel allows and the sound should be ringing between the eyes or the third eye. If the breath is fast moving and the vibrations are in the mask, the sound will be more resonant.
