My goal as a teacher is to show students the joys of singing and playing music, while instructing them how to be technically proficient and vocally healthy. Through the process, I encourage singers to appreciate what their strengths are and to recognize their weaknesses as challenges. I like to focus on one technical issue at a time, building upon the current strengths without overwhelming the singers. As I've said above, my teaching is curtailed to the individual needs of my students. I stress development as a complete musician, and that often includes breaking away from technique to discuss other ideas like music theory, ear training, etc. Most importantly, I can explain difficult concepts in many ways. I received a Bachelor's degree in Music Therapy from Cleveland State University in 2018 and became a board-certified music therapist in January of 2019. The most important aspect is to make learning a fun, enjoyable and fulfilling process by understanding the student and listening to what they want to accomplish.
