My teaching experience began in 2011. A friend of mine had bought a guitar and did not know a single thing about the instrument. he asked me if I could teach him how to play. My teaching experience began in high school, where I mentored the younger musicians and acted as a role model to them. In college, I began teaching private lessons to students of varying ages and abilities, as well as leading advanced ensembles made up of college-level musicians. I move at a very quick pace, but I have my students set their own goals. While I will select the literature for the student, I want them to feel successful when they are working with me. Teaching students has been a rewarding experience for me, and I believe that I can make a difference in their lives.< When students are practicing, I want them to practice scales for instruments, and vocal warmups for voice before starting on the assigned work for the next lesson. I love seeing a person's eyes light up when they discover something new about music. I find trust to be an important component in the music teacher/student relationship. Learning to sing or play the piano is both fun and hard work. It requires patience, positive thinking, and a commitment to making practicing a priority. Depending on the goals of the student, I help them prepare for music recitals, competitions and auditions. Read More

For voice I create my own custon lesson plans and use a variety of materials. Students will work on a great variety of repetorie from pop to renaissance. Students are encourgaed to learn to read music, with a great emphasis placed upon practical music theory. I aim to develop intellegent musical artists, foscuing upon intrepretation, critical thinking, historical considerations and creativity. For piano I general use the Faber and Faber method books unless I feel that a particular method would better benefit a specific student. Read More
