Once the students made progression in basic fundamentals, I use the Suzuki Methods Books and Solo for Young Violinists by Barbara Barber. Along with that, I introduce the students to the chamber music so that the students learn to play with others. Creating a non-judgemental atmosphere, where students are free to experiment, make mistakes, and try again, is crucial for learning an instrument such as the violin. With this instrument, repeptition is key to learning. I also strive to set very clear, manageble goals, so students feel a sense of accomplishment at each stage. This sense of accomplishment is motivating to the student as well as the teacher!   Musically speaking, I don't believe in boundaries - I don't think musicians need to be categorized or put into little boxes that tells them what they can and can't do. I think people should be allowed to explore whatever voices they find true and beautiful - and feel free to add their own voice. As soon as I meet with a student or a group of students, I make sure they are welcomed by an energetic teacher before getting started on their lesson. I try to keep the student(s) engaged by showing them different ways and approaches to music from books and my own personal approaches to help them grow knowing their teacher is well experienced. Since their is a lot for a percussionist than just playing with sticks on a drum, there is no doubt that the endless possibilities in teaching students the various instruments will help keep them engaged as well being more excited about music. Circe D. is an award-winning Venezuelan cellist hailing from El Sistema, Venezuelas acclaimed youth music program. She was a student of magnet school New World School of Arts in Florida, studying under David Cole, as well as a cello performance student at the University of Florida graduating both academic programs with honors. Ms. Circe D. also holds a masters degree in Cello Performance from the University of Florida. Ms. Circe D. has performed as a touring featured cellist with The Nuevo Mundo String Quartet, the World Orchestra String Quartet, and as a soloist with the Symphony Orchestra of Aragua and the Whittier Symphony Orchestra, among others.
