I am teaching the students by wide range from beginners to most advanced. I use Suzuki method combined with traditional teaching materials and traditional teaching methods for advanced students. For younger students, I mainly use Suzuki teaching method, combined with etudes, like Alwin Schroeder's 170 Foundation Studies. Teaching all age group students with scales as well. Once the student has grasped the basic fundamentals and note reading, I begin to introduce solo repertoire from the Suzuki String method. Along with technical studies and solo repertoire, the student will learn scales ranging from one to four octaves. For beginning piano student's, I use the Bastein Piano series. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with the Suzuki Violin Method (Viola version available) with occasional ear training with the piano with the Kodaly method. For intermediate and advanced students, I introduce a variety of etudes, scale books, and solo repertoire, e.g. Carl Flesch, Kreutzer, Mazas, Dont, Dounis, and Unaccompanied Bach, etc. For viola students or violinists who are looking into doubling the viola, I introduce many techniques including Karen Tuttle and Primrose Scales to help along with the transition. I've performed in masterclasses with Dr. Rebecca Henderson, Dr. Nancy Ambrose King, Dr. Stephen Taylor, Frank Rosenwein, Art Lande, and Elizabeth Blumenstock. A board-certified Music Therapist with the American Music Therapy Association, I completed a six-month clinical internship providing Music Therapy for patients in end-of-life hospice care. I also have practicum experience with children with developmental disabilities, at-risk youth, and the elderly. I maintain a private teaching studio in Los Angeles, in which I assist children and adults with everything from exploring their first sounds to successfully auditioning for university music programs.
