I decide my methodology depending on the age, skill level, and individual goals and interests of each student. For very young pre-school students, I'd encourage them to learn the music by ear (Suzuki method) and through repetition in various ways. For older school-aged students I strongly believe in the importance of note-reading and I might use the Essential elements method books, that introduce the musical notation and theory concepts in a way appropriate for people with no prior musical training. Teaching for 12 years and playing for 18 years has really inspired me to cater to every age, and the student’s personal goals and their particular culture as there are no limitations to my style. I have experience creating music programs for church ministries, learning centers, music academies and more. My programs offer growth within child development skills as an individual as well as a group setting, helping the student to be more confident at a young age and continue to grow as well for adults, give challenges to the student, fun games for memorization of music and to enjoy the lessons, and most importantly how to share their gift with family and friends while going through performing etiquette training. In the past I have taught public school orchestra, band, and choir, in elementary, middle, and high school. Read More

For students interested in studying stringed instruments, I have found that the Suzuki method is a very effective curriculum for young children who cannot yet read well, yet engaging enough for older students if supplemented with note-reading and technique exercises. Hal Leonard's Essential Elements and Robert Frost's All for Strings are two other proven methods that work well for almost any age. Young piano students do very well with Alfred's Basic Piano Course or Faber Piano Adventures methods, and Bastien and Alfred both have methods for adults that seem to promote quick learning.
