I currently teach part-time lessons out of my home studio in Copperas Cove, Texas. I focus on bringing out students talents and highlighting areas where they can improve, while bringing out their interest in growing as a musician. Though lessons are a key point in improving upon a students skills, consistent practice schedules at home are also an important step to growth in skill level. I began teaching trumpet when I was a high school student. My students were middle school aged peers within my school district that needed additional guidance. While in college, I maintained two dozen or so students within my own private studio. Some of these students were non-music majors that were given to me by my own voice professor. My primary instrument is the human voice. For beginning students who are children, I like to start with Hal Leanard's Rubank Elementary Method Cornet/Trumpet. If a student has a grasp of the fundamentals, I work with the basic blues and scales to build a repetoire. For Adults, I like to work with jazz standards as well as H.L. At that point, I introduce the chord method as well as the number system- having them play certain progressions as I prompt them to play.
