I've been teaching jazz to students since 2010 and have had the opportunity to create workshops focusing on jazz history, improvisation and sound painting. I like to work with new students to build a foundation for trumpet playing and developing a solid tone and embouchure. I will start youbg beginner students with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. As the student progresses, I will introduce solo literature appropriate for their skill level. For older beginners, I will assess their interests in order to keep them interested in their new instrument. For students with more experience, I will assess their skill level and assign exercises to further develop their fundamentals, and assign literature to grow the student's repertoire that will also reinforce their strong points while strengthening other points in their playing. I attended college at Houston Baptist University where I received a full scholarship to study music. Once I graduated I was immediately hired to do a national tour which was followed by 5 others. I perform on Broadway also. I was in 22 performances at Theater Under the Stars in Houston. I was then on television's Star Search and won. I have been teaching trumpet since 1992.  I began my private studio in Lubbock, Texas while I was attending Texas Tech University.  I performed in the Tech band, as well as in a brass quintet made up of myself and local brass musicians from the Lubbock area.  I performed many weddings and other functions while in Lubbock.   I have been in the DFW are since 2003 and restarted my teaching in 2005 after a two year rest.
