However, the most beneficial learning occurs when the students feels they were an active participant in the discovery(ah-ha! moments). Having a comfortable, supportive environment for private lessons is very important to me. Nothing is worse than being scared of your private instructor! I like to create a warm environment for my students where they feel safe taking musical risks. I definitely believe in goal setting with my students. For beginning woodwind students, I have had success using the Rubank method books as a starter. Alongside a method book, I like to work on material chosen by the student, as well as my own supplemntal exercises. It is important for the student to understand the musical concepts associated with the repertoire, as well as focusing on performing well. I also prefer to have my students keep a practice log book, in order to track their progress. For piano and music theory, I like to use the John Thompson method for beginner students, and the Bastien Piano Literature series for more advanced students. My teaching approach focuses heavily on the fundamentals of the instrument and its relationship to Music... All students are different so I tend to approach slowly and access their reactions to my suggestions. It is so important not to make a student feel pressured to achieve, especially in Music... I want their interest and will to excel to be their own personal choice and quest. Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, I am a person that's inspired by music, and the trumpet itself. In 2016, I graduated from Berklee College of Music, with a Bachelor or Music in Trumpet Performance. I have always inspired to perform for a living, and to travel doing so.
