For intermediate musicians, I focus more on taking their basic skills and expanding on them to help them discover new abilities and progress further in their musical development. Once students grasp the fundamentals, I like to teach how they relates to the music they listen to. Through this, students can learn how theory and scales become music As we get advanced, I like to move in to scale studies, technical warm ups, and theory. There are two essential parts to learning/improving you ability on an instrument; Instruction and Practice. I will provide instruction, but in order for the student to show improvement they need to practice. When learning any instrument or even for that matter, singing, developing muscle memory is the key. That requires repetition to get the brain to register the process.
