I, Michael G. Turner, breathe through music. My love for music began at a very early age and I was blessed to realize, very soon, that it was my passion.I began performing at the age of 13 on clarinet, in voice, and on drums and percussion. Most of my early performance experience was obtained in church, school, and in my older brothers' Top 40 band. After I first received my Bachelor's Degree from CSU Fullerton, I opted to showcase my original music through distinct outlets. For stringed instruments, I uses the Suzuki method for teaching the basic repertory of the instruments. This method is an ear training method in which the student plays by ear. It starts out very simple so students of all ages can learn and progress very quickly.  I formally began teaching private lessons fifteen years ago and love to see the rapid musical growth that can be achieved with focused one-on-one instruction. I've played trombone for eleven years and have stuck with it for love of the instrument. I attended the LA County High School for the Art for three years, through which time I became serious about learning music. I went on to earn the Bob Cole Conservatory Scholarship at CalState Long Beach. My favorite courses were Brass Chamber Music and my various music history courses. I discovered a passion for Latin music history, and spent my last semester of college teaching music and English in Barcelona, Spain. Read More
