For beginner students with little to no playing experience, I usually start with the Essential Elements series, along with supplemental music theory instruction. I usually switch the student over to the Rubank books once they've grasped the fundamentals. I then introduce standard solo repertoire as well as etudes, orchestral excerpts, etc. I encourage ensemble playing and deep music listening to all my students as well. For piano students, I am comfortable teaching Suzuki, Faber & Faber, and many other methods.
