I am from Beaumont, Tx where I began to learn saxophone and participated in concert band, marching band, and small ensembles. I then attended Texas Southern University where I graduated with a degree in music performance with a minor in African American studies. While in college I participated in marching band, wind ensemble, and became a member Kappa Kappa Psi national honorary band fraternity. Different students have different levels of perception or assimilation. This i establish before i even start the introductory class proper. Then i go through the fundamentals with the student, and observe their progress along the way.
