Instruction by private instructor
I have worked with many students in a marching and concert band setting
My teaching experience dates back to 2000. I taught as a instructor at Monrovia High School from 1999 -2004. I taught at Montebello High School for 2 years. I have been teaching at El Rancho High School for the last 6 years and am about to start my 7th year. I have taught a lot of my students privately and I have also taught students outside of the high schools that I have worked at. Most of my students that I have taught were school age students from 5th grade through high school. I have taught a few adults just how to read music.
My methods of teaching for students are if the student is starting with a school I would work with the book that the director wants them to work with. If they are coming to me for to learn I would use Essential Elements for Band and then move on to other music or books. For any adults that I would have I would use Essential Elements for Band and the I would move on to what they want to learn. But there are many ways to teach a person that is learning a new skill not all people have the same way of learning so I adapt to what they need.
I am into keeping the student into what they are doing with music. I will make learning an instrument as fun as I can and push them as much as I need to. I will not overwork my students because that is not fun. I will have to judge how I take everything with the student because each student learns differently. I need to teach you at the pace that works for you or your child all people learn differently and it is my job to figure out how to get you to where you want to be and at the pace that is good for you,
Easy going but thorough. My son seems to like him, is already playing pretty well for a beginner, and he remains motivated, which is great.
