Since beginning my Master's Degree at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, I am the TA for the Saxophone Department and I currently have 8 students (Freshman and Sophomore Undergraduates). Hanon is the one book that has stayed with me for two decades and I adhere to its various training regimens very closely. I believe that learning music is most beneficial when it is 50% discipline and 50% creativity. My students are able to use discipline to pursue their creative goals. For example, if a student wants to create extremely fast guitar solos, they must first learn to play a scale extremely fast.
