I analyze each individual student. I design a plan according to their needs. I give students arrangements of pieces that they will be inspired to play. A lot of my teaching is based on some of the great teachers that I studied with in the past. I am 59 years old and currently teach in the San Diego area. I have been teaching for 40 years. I was playing professionally in the Chicago area when I was 16 years old. Read More

The two rules I follow for teaching any student is that 1: Everyone goes at their own pace, and 2: Everyone learns differently. That goes for all my students, regardless of instrument. If a student is having trouble grasping what Im saying/demonstrating, well keep going over it until they understand. Maybe a topic has to be approached differently for someone; I can do that. Other students will pick things up more quickly, and we can skip ahead to more challenging parts of the books or pick harder songs to sing or play. Read More

I have a bachelors degree in psychology so I am very sensitive to adapting to the feel of my students. I want to hear your goals, and know what your expectations are. We are a team, and together we will help you reach where you want to go and have a fun time doing so. I am very creative and open for ideas. Also I am sensitive to shyness, something I struggled with in the past myself, so we will work together to find ways to tackle these cool challenges and help you grow as an artist. Read More

To be honest, I didn't become serious about teaching in the arts until I went to graduate school from 2019 - 2022. There, I co-taught a class in the winter 2022 to undergraduates and realized I enjoyed teaching a variety of artists and helping them to feel more open in sharing their art and artistic practices. When I graduated, I knew that the next logical and intuitive step for me was teaching. Not only do I want to help others achieve their goals, I also feel that teaching pays homage to all of the mentors and teachers I've had throughout my life. Read More
