I believe in a strong foundation for beginning students and I make sure that is the first part of every lesson, the same way an athlete exercises to stay in shape, a musician must also maintain the facility on their instrument. I have sung in choirs for thirty years. Over that time, I also performed in several musical plays, and took about 22 college course units in music covering piano, guitar, singing, and musicianship. I took singing lessons with Dr. Ron Shaheen over a five year period. My day job is Mandarin interpreter, and I have time enough to develop as a musician when that work is completed.
