Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. For my beginning students on piano, I like to start out with knowing finger numbers, practicing scales and introducing simple songs to help get the feel of how to play the piano. I then move on to, not only giving the student an option to tell me what songs they would like to learn, but also to songs that increase the note range! I obtained my Master’s degree in Piano Performance and Pedagogy at Ball State University. I began taking piano lessons at the age of 6, and began teaching piano at the age of 18. For piano, I typically use the Faber Piano Adventures Series; however, I am open to other method books as well. The Faber series has theory, technique, lesson, and performance books, each with different skills and techniques to learn. I find that those books offer the most comprehensive learning. In addition to the Faber books, I also utilize online worksheets for supplemental learning. For guitar, I typically use online worksheets and chord sheets, and from there, I encourage students to purchase specific guitar books they are interested in (for example, Disney books, classic rock books, Beatles books, etc.).
