Instruments: Piano, Keyboard

I have been teaching piano for over 12 years to aspiring pianists ranging from 5 year-olds to undergraduate performing arts majors. I am very passionate about teaching, because I am just as fulfilled as my students when they are able to master a piece and gain a sense of accomplishment. I’ve also learned how to give students encouraging and practical feedback from my professor at LSU, Gregory Sioles. His warm and caring personality is my goal as a teacher and pianist. Read More

My teaching style is diverse and different. I have taught at many different levels to many different students. 1) music theory is vital 2) music history is vital 3) music appreciation is vital 4) students "want to" level is vital... Put all of those together and tou have a successful journey. Students who never are beginners are the most fun because we both grow together! I teach scales and notes first, then comes the fingering for the notes on the pages. Read More

I would start by telling them the notes in the scale and then have them repeat to me what I just taught them once they got the notes down and they know where they are on the piano I can teach them the proper hand positions to play the scale. My teaching experience goes back to my high school days, where I began to teach private lessons part time ten years ago. Since then, I have been consistently been teaching students in private studios. I encourage regular practice on a consistent schedule and motivate my students on a daily basis. I also found that a combination of classical and modern music can go a long way in helping students enjoying playing instruments. Read More

Instruments: Piano

For beginning students who are children, I typically start with a select list of guided lesson books (depending on skill level and musical interests). Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
