I have been teaching professionally since graduating from Capital University in 2009, and have had the pleasure of teaching individuals of all ages and interests. I've developed a lesson plan centered around building a complete musician, not just a guitarist. Integral to that plan is the development of reading, writing, and improvisational skills. I also like to focus on each students' own musical interests, studying music that they're interested in, as well as what I think is important for everyone to learn. Read More

Music should be fun. If it isn't fun, why do it? Music is art, not machinery, and I believe lesson time should be the perfect blend of work and fun. It takes work to achieve new skill levels in music, but it takes joy, love and fun to make the work worth it! I help guide students to achieve new goals by encouraging and always pointing to the positive (because to me negative reinforcement just doesn't work). Read More

No matter the age, i think it's always important to find out what genres of music the student enjoys. This is because they will most likely stay engaged and develop a passion for pieces they find enjoyable. For beginners, I start with the Michael Aaron Piano Course books. Technique such as finger placement, body mechanics, and scales are interwoven to increase proficiency. For adults, I will ask about their ability level and if other instruments have been played in the past. Read More

I began playing in churches when I was about13. Shortly after that, I became a full-time organist and choral accompanist. I have also directed choirs. My background was mostly concentrated on classical repertoire, but I am able to teach many different styles. After graduating from WSU, I taught for one year in the public school system, but decided it wasn't for me. I enjoy the 1-1 dynamic of private lessons much more. Read More

I have been teaching privately since 2010 and have been consistently been teaching private lessons since. I was a part of a directed teaching program at Cedarville University where my teaching was observed by peers and professors. I spent a year teaching general music to childern in Italy as well as private piano lessons. I also have experience teaching group classes and entering students in recitals and competitions. It's my goal as a teacher to make sure my students love learning but to also learn to play naturally and confidently. Read More

I have been a practicing board certified music therapist since 2014. In that time I have worked as a music therapist in many settings but currently work for myself in my private practice. In my time as a music therapist I have taught piano, ukulele, guitar, voice, bass, songwriting, music theory, and more to an incredibly wide range of learners. I am patient with students who need to move slowly and can move quickly with clients who thrive in an energetic setting. Read More
