I always want to help my students understand the basics of music and universal principles that can apply to any music they are interested in learning. Whether it's jazz, pop, classical, blues, most styles of music share these principles in common and are best played when the musician can understand the underlying structures. Rather than having students memorize one piece that they'll forget as soon as they move onto the next, I want my students to have the skills to play any music they like any time by helping them develop their ear. Instruments: Piano Voice Music
Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. Read More
Instruments: Piano Voice
I began teaching private voice and piano lessons in 2008. My students have completed level 1 and 2 NYSSMA festivals. I have a piano student working on piano level 3 this year. Besides teaching private voice and piano lessons, I also teach middle school chorus for the New York City Department of Education. At my school, I also serve as vocal director for the school musical. I believe that our ability to talk about music emerges from the experience of “thinking music” as performers and that we truly learn music by using its grammar. Read More
Instruments: Piano Trumpet Saxophone Flute Clarinet Bass Guitar Recorder Double Bass Music
I began teaching in 2012 when I was awarded the Graduate Assistant position at Western Michigan University. As a G.A., I was responsible for teaching non-music majors saxophone lessons, theory and ear-training, as well as coaching ensembles. I also taught flute and clarinet at Paramount Charter Academy in Kalamazoo, Michigan to middle school students. It was a very rewarding experience to teach people of various ages, ability levels, and goals, and allowed me to refine my teaching methods based on the needs of each student. I currently teach music theory, piano, saxophone, clarinet, flute, drums, and composition at Belle Arti Center for the Performing Arts in Queens, NY. Read More
Instruments: Piano Violin Cello Viola Electric Violin Fiddle
I began playing violin at the age of 12. Over the years, I developed my skills further by joining my local community orchestra and getting lessons from renowned instructor pedagogues. I received my Bachelor's degree in Music Education at the State University of New York at Fredonia in 2017, where I performed regularly with the Symphonic and Chamber Orchestra, and learned about how to teach students both individually and in a school setting.
