I'm a passionate and energetic instructor who loves to prepare her students for performance opportunities.  In 2007, I earned my Master of Music in Vocal Performance from Northern Illinois University and earned my Bachelor of Arts at Millikin University in Decatur IL. Performing throughout the Chicago and Milwaukee metro areas have been precious experiences for me.  I have had the opportunity to sing at the House of Blues in Chicago as well as perform with the Chicago Comedy Company and Music by the Lake in Williams Bay, WI.

He is currently the assistant organist/accompanist at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Naperville, Illinois where he works with Matthew Sprinkle who is the director of sacred music. Mr. Felty is also set up at the church to teach private piano students in the Naperville, Wheaton, and western suburbs of Chicago. In 2011, Mr. Felty graduated from Concordia University, River Forest, Illinois with a Master of Church Music Degree where his major instrument was organ. Dr. Steven Wente was his former teacher. Prior to starting at St. Peter and Paul Catholic, he was the former organist and assistant director at First United Methodist Church in La Grange, Illinois where he worked with Gary Wilhelm. In addition to the Master of Church Music Degree, he also holds a Master of Music Degree in organ performance from Norfolk State University in Virginia where he studied with Dr. Allen Shaffer, retired professor of music.

Curtis-Smith. Following graduation, Mr. Miller also studied piano under Steven Hesla at University of Montana and in master classes he has also worked with such diverse musicians as Alon Goldstein, Karen Walwyn, Kuang-Hau Huang, David Schrader, as well as Gilmore Concert Artists Pierre Laurent-Aimard, Angela Hewitt and Orli Shaham.

Kira T

Instruments:

I believe that teaching should be more about lighting a fire than filling up a vase. If I can motivate you by by making the journey of learning piano an exciting adventure, the rest will follow naturally. It’s a philosophy I’ve been applying for more than 25 years with great results.

More Information About Piano Lessons

Most students start out with a keyboard or digital piano. We recommend a full size keyboard with 88 weighted keys - weighted keyboards will have a touch response similar to a real piano. However, if purchasing a real piano is in your budget, we think that a real acoustic piano will provide you and the student with the highest level of satisfaction during practice time.
Musika offers customized one-on-one music lessons in your home - a smart and simple solution for busy parents and students. The convenience of in-home lessons allows you to save time without having to transport your child to class, allows your child to maximize their busy schedule, and provides a safe and familiar environment in which to learn.
Our teachers create a customized lesson plan for every student. Topics covered during Musika's piano lessons may include, but are not limited to: learning the notes of the piano, how to read music and play piano chord charts, how to play piano by ear, music theory, musicianship skills, and most importantly, how to have fun playing the piano!
The piano is an easy instrument for beginners of all ages. We have adults who are total novices, some who haven't played their instrument in 10 years, and some who are more advanced students looking to take their skills to the next level. Our teachers have proven methods to get you the results you desire.
Our recommended starting age for piano is 4 or 5, with students capable of playing the keys properly and with sufficient strength in the fingers and hands. Young students also should have begun learning to count and to read. No matter what the age may be, the piano is an excellent introduction to the fundamentals of music, including music theory and basic composition techniques.
