In August 2016, I began an internship at the Gwangmyeong Social Welfare Center (GSWC) in South Korea. In addition to my other roles as an intern, I also taught piano and music lessons to the children being served by the GSWC. Since returning from this internship, I have continued to provide piano and guitar lessons to students in the Decatur-Athens-Huntsville area of Alabama. I am a musician with 16 years plus of music experience. My main instrument is guitar but I have learned many other instruments over the years such as piano, bass guitar, banjo, and drums. I learned to read music in high school band as an auxiliary percussionist (playing bells, xylophone, and various percussion instruments) as well as singing in the choir. I love kids and music and decided to combine the two. Piano lessons from fourth grade through high school furthered my love for instruments. I played flute and piccolo through high school and then graduated with my Bachelors of Instrumental Music Education from Troy in 2005. I started teaching around the summer of 2013. My first pupils were children that were active members at my old church. They were interested primarily in acoustic guitar, I discovered how wonderful it made me feel to see their faces "light up" when they learned their first chord.
