Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Our music teachers understand that every student has different needs and abilities and therefore the lessons will be planned with that knowledge in mind.

I always say that rhythm is more important than the notes. Play the right rhythm and the notes will come instead of playing every right note while sacrificing rhythm. I encourage students to make their mistakes loud, proud, and in rhythm so everyone has a better idea of what needs to be worked on most. I also emphasize isolating parts to practice and working backwards. Example: play the last two bars of the song until comfortable with it, now play the last 4 bars, last 6, last 8...etc., whole song. I use beginning guitar books such as Hal Leonard that show the basic layout of the guitar and are an introduction to reading. Also chord books, books on scales, jazz methods, fake books, classical books and such. I like to teach my own style,being creative and going beyond basics. Around the age of 15, after about five years of performing, I started teaching guitar lessons to kids around my community and discovered a love for sharing my musical knowledge with others. When I went on to college, I continued teaching individual students and in my sophomore year joined a volunteer teaching group called SLAM! Through this twelve-week program, I had the opportunity to lead a group class of fifteen underprivileged middle schoolers with little to no musical experience. Read More

My methods for teaching involve the topics I learned in my Guitar Technique course. I introduce the CAGED System. Where basic open position chords are moved around the fretboard to cover scale shapes, and arpeggios. This is a great way to map the fretboard, and provide positions to improvise on solos. With this I also blend music theory in which I call the mixture "Fretboard Theory." Theory is what we cover in scales that tell what quality they have, (Major, Minor, ETC). Read More
