I cater lessons to YOUR needs and goals. I am not invested in there being a "right" technique of any kind. Together we will create a custom approach so that you will love the experience of playing the music you love.  I will share fun and efficient ways to practice so that you get immediate results. If desired, I also guarantee you will be playing a blues and improvising within a maximum of 6 weeks as long as you practice at least 10 minutes, three times a week.  You will have the option of playing along with recordings minus your part so that you can experience the joy of ensemble playing early on in the safety of your own home. I love creating small ensemble groups of students at similar levels and arranging concerts at regular intervals. I am a passionate and motivated teacher, who loves working with students of all ages. I am primarily a saxophone player, but love learning new instruments. In 2020, I graduated from UMass Lowell with a Bachelor’s in Music Studies. In 2022, I graduated with a Master’s in Music Education. I am happy to work with students with whatever method book they are currently using but I am also happy to suggest method books and literature that I feel could further guide their growth. This means treating each student as an individual, recognizing that each student may have different goals and learning styles, and teaching and planning lessons accordingly. I believe strongly in teaching from a place of encouragement and empathy. Lessons are a safe space for students to ask questions, make mistakes, and grow. Moving Forward, Nava has trained under world-renowned soloist Mimi Stillman at Temple University and starting Fall 2022, she will be continuing her masters in Flute Performance with Professor Janet Arms under John Cali Music Scholarship at Montclair State University. Nava has had the opportunity to play in masterclasses of several renowned flutists such as Carol Wincenc (Juilliard professor), Leone Buyse (Rice professor), Nancy Stagnita (Interlocken professor), Emma Gerstein (Associate Principal Flute in the Chicago Symphony), April Clayton (Brigham Young University Professor) and Denis Bouriakov (principal flutist of the Los Angeles Philharmonic and UCLA professor).
