I consider myself a laid back teacher who still has solid expectations. I understand that each student's feasible time commitment may be different and I would like to honor that. With that said, I expect my students to put time into their music, because that is the only way to make progress and to maximize their ultimate enjoyment of playing an instrument. Then I will choose from appropriate method books depending on the student's skill level. If a student has a specific path that they want to take or have their own books they want to learn from, I will cater the lessons to that. I grew up singing in church and school choirs and playing in my school band. I continued in High School in the Band, Jazz Band, Choir and Show Choir. In college I pursued a duel degree in Counseling and Music. My music degree included Music History, Performance, Theory, and Conducting. I performed in the band as First Chair Flute and in the Chorale, Chamber Choir and Chapel Choir.
