I make myself available via email and phone, always doing everything I can to continue the students' engagement outside of their lesson. I cater lessons to YOUR needs and goals. I am not invested in there being a "right" technique of any kind. Together we will create a custom approach so that you will love the experience of playing the music you love.  I will share fun and efficient ways to practice so that you get immediate results. If desired, I also guarantee you will be playing a blues and improvising within a maximum of 6 weeks as long as you practice at least 10 minutes, three times a week.  You will have the option of playing along with recordings minus your part so that you can experience the joy of ensemble playing early on in the safety of your own home. I love creating small ensemble groups of students at similar levels and arranging concerts at regular intervals. In college I had the opportunity to direct and teach a community flute choir for adults. Currently I teach private and group lessons to high school students through the Boston Public Public School District. It is important to me to make sure my students are enjoying the work they are doing and have a say in the music they are learning while developing good practice tools. Read More

I love teaching private lessons, and I have 12 years of experience doing so.  I have been playing flute for 26 years, and I earned my Bachelor's in Music Education and Flute Performance from SUNY Fredonia, and my Master's degree in Flute Performance from the Hartt School. I have performed with many different performers and ensembles including: the Chelsea Symphony, SEM Ensemble, Hartt Independent Chamber Orchestra, the Long Island flute ensemble, jazz bass legend, Nat Reeves, the Jalapeño Quartet, traditional Irish harpist Hailey Hewitt, guitarist Oren Fader, and the Alturas Duo.  I have performed at Carnegie Hall, Symphony Space, for Composer's Voice Concert Series, the Connecticut Guitar Society, many public libraries, the Windsor Historical Society, the New Britain Museum of Art, the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History, Windsor Art Center, and the Wadsworth Museum of Art, among others.
