For piano, I typically start of using Faber Piano Adventures paired with Edna Burnam's "A Dozen A Day." I like pairing the traditional lesson book - which focuses on the fundamentals and using familiar tunes to teach basic theory, note recognition, early technique, etc. with the Burnam exercises which gives the student tools to start incorporating other musical elements into their playing because these exercises become a warm-up routine instead of something to be checked off of a list. I graduated from Carroll University in 2018 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Liberal Arts, and have performed as principal flute for an international music project between Carroll University, Marquette, UW Milwaukee, and multiple Italian conservatories all throughout Italy, Germany, and Austria. When working in private lessons, I work with each student to set goals, both long and short term. I then assume the role of a guide whenever possible, rather than an authoritarian figure, so that sudents can discover concepts for themselves vs. having the information given to them. I have also been on faculty at the Midwestern Music Academy, and was a clinician for the Blue Valley School District.
